deployとstowの違いを解説
車の電動サイドミラーの動きを思い浮かべてください。
deployは（ミラーが）「展開する、使える状態になる」という意味で、
折りたたまれていたものが展開する動きを表しています。
反対に、
stowは、「しまい込む、折りたたむ」という意味で、
ミラーがもとの位置に戻る動きを表しています。
deployとstowには他の意味もありますが、
動きを表す際には、このような意味になります。
では、違いを例文とともに見ていきましょう。
deploy
1. （軍隊を）展開する、配備する
The government deployed troops in this area. 軍を展開した（readyな状態にした）
2. （資源、人材を）有効に活用する
The director deployed all employees. 全従業員を有効に活用した
3. （装置などが）機能する、展開する
The air bag has deployed in this traffic accident. この事故でエアバッグが作動した（展開した）
stow
1.（場所、容器に）しまい込む、詰め込む
Stow your bags under seats. 椅子の下にしまってください。
飛行機に乗ると、
「Bassinet must be stowed.」／「Monitor must be stowed」
という表記がシートの背中に書かれていたりしますが、
「元の位置にしまう、折りたたんで戻す」という意味です。
2. （ふざけたり騒ぐことを）やめる---通常命令形で
Stow it! ふざけるのはやめろ！
