medicationとprescription-意味と使い方を解説
「薬局」は、日本では「ドラッグストア」と呼ばれますが、
海外では、pharmacyもしくはdrugstoreが使われます。
また、「薬」は、
drugではなく、medication＝medicineを使います。
それぞれ別の意味も持っており、
medicationには「薬物療法」、
medicineには「医学」という意味があります。
薬局の薬は、レジでお金を払えば自由に買えるので、
「市販薬」は、over-the counter medicationと呼ばれます。
一方、
prescription(for medication)は、
「処方箋（薬のための処方箋）」のことで、
診察後に発行される、薬を発行するための詳細な書類を意味しています。
そして、
処方箋をもとにした薬＝「処方薬」のことを、
prescription medicationと呼びます。
