venueとpremisesの違いを解説
venueやpremisesは、TOEICによく登場します。
どちらも「場所」を表す単語で、
仕事上でも、知っていると役に立つ場面があると思います。
この記事では、venueとpremisesの違いを中心に、
「場所」を表す様々な単語を紹介します。
まず、venueですが、
「開催地、会場」という意味です。
業界ごとの展示会や、コンサートが開催される
東京ビッグサイトや横浜パシフィコなどの会場を指しています。
これらの会場は、
convention center コンベンションセンター（会議や博覧会のためのビル）
とも呼ばれます。

大きなコンベンションセンターであるパシフィコ横浜は、国際会議の会場だった
一方のpremisesですが、
「敷地、施設、構内」という意味です。
例えば、勤めている会社の
「敷地」、敷地内にある「施設」、施設の中である「構内」を指しています。
on the premisesは、「敷地内で、構内で」という意味で、
TOEICにもよく登場します。
