品詞の種類-8種類
英語を構成する品詞を一通り確認していきましょう。
英語の基本品詞は、8つに分類されていますが、
それに冠詞と助動詞を加えた10の品詞の定義と
注意の必要なポイントを整理していきましょう。
品詞 (the eight) parts of speech
1.名詞 noun---もの・ことの名前
可算名詞 countable noun
不可算名詞 uncountable noun
に分類できます。
一般名詞 general noun
固有名詞 proper noun---人名、国名等、theをつけます
という分類もできます。
2.代名詞 pronoun---名詞の代わりになる言葉
一度登場した名詞は、その後、代名詞で代用できる
I / you / he / she / we / they / it
3.形容詞 adjective---名詞の前後において名詞を修飾する言葉
名詞の前に置いて修飾する場合が多いですが、後ろに置く場合もあります。
名詞の後ろに形容詞を置く例
something new 何か新しいもの
restaurants nationwide 国内のレストラン
person responsible 責任のある人（責任者）
4.動詞 verb---状態や動作を表す言葉
状態動詞---進行形にできない
have / like / know / understand /see / hear
動作動詞---進行形にできる
fly / study / watch / enjoy / play
に分類できます。
自動詞 intransitive verb／他動詞 transitive verbという分類もできます。
5.副詞 adverb---名詞以外（動詞、形容詞、副詞、文全体）を修飾する言葉
I woke up this morning early.---earlyは、woke up（動詞）を修飾
He is very tall.---veryは、tall（形容詞）を修飾
I woke up this morning very early.---veryは、early（副詞）を修飾
Fortunately, I found my lost bag.---fortunatelyは、その後の文全体を修飾
6.前置詞 preposition---名詞または動名詞の前に置いて名詞を修飾
in / to / on / above / below / for / of / by
前置詞とその後の語句とともに、形容詞句、副詞句をつくります
I put an apple on the table. テーブルの上に（副詞）置いた
I ate an apple on the table. テーブルの上の（形容詞）リンゴ
7.接続詞 conjunction---単語と単語、文と文を接続する言葉
and / but / so
when / while (duringは、前置詞）/ after / before
because / since / as / now that
if / unless / as long as / provided that
although（despiteは前置詞） / even if
8.間投詞 interjection---感情を表す言葉
well / oh! / wow! / ah! / yeah!
9.冠詞 article
定冠詞 definite article---the
不定冠詞 indefinite article---a / an
10.助動詞 auxiliary verb---動詞の前に置き、動詞に意味を足す言葉
助動詞の後は、動詞の原型
can / will / must / may / shall / could / would / might / should
