dignityとintegrityの違いを解説
dignityとintegrityは、響きが似ていますね。
ちゃんと区別できているでしょうか？
まず、dignityですが、
「威厳」もしくは「尊厳（尊いこと）」という意味で、
語源はラテン語の”dignitas"です。
次にintegrityですが、
こちらは、honesty and integrity（正直さと誠実さ）というように
honestyとセットで使われることも多く、
「誠実（さ）」という意味です。
「正直」と「誠実」は、人間にとって重要な価値観ですが、
デジタル大辞泉で調べると、下記のように定義されています。
正直（honesty）：正しくて嘘偽りのないこと
誠実（integrity）：真心を持って人や物事に対すること
何か失敗したときに、
「私がやっちゃいました」と言えることがhonestyで、
「なんとかしようと真心を込めて行動しようとすること」
がintegrityといったところでしょうか。
このように音は似ていても
dignityとintegrityの意味は異なります。
