contractorとconstructorの違いを解説
「ゼネコン」という言葉は、御存知でしょうか？
「ゼネコン」は、general contractorの略で、総合建設業を指します。
contractorは、
contract 契約に基づいて建設業務を取り仕切る人や組織、
すなわち「（建設工事分野の）請負業者、建設業者」
という意味です。
general contractor （ゼネコン）からイメージすると
contractorの意味は分かりやすいかもしれません。
一方、
constructorは、
建物を実際に作る人や会社を指し、
contractorからの発注を受けたり、独自プランで建設作業を行う
「建築（建設）会社、建築（建設）者」
を意味します。
