after thatやafterwardがありますが、

どういった違いがあるかわかるでしょうか？

まず、after thatですが、

会話でよく使われ、

thatの指す出来事の後で＝「その後で」という意味を表しています。

さらに、afterの前にどれぐらい後なのかを表す語句を加え、

soon after that　その後すぐに＝shortly after that

an hour after that　その後1時間経って

のように使うことができます。

一方、afterwardは、

前に起きた出来事の後＝「（その）後で」という意味の副詞で、

after that同様、

前に起きた出来事↔後で起きた出来事の対比で使われますが、

一語で、前に起きた出来事のことも含めて表すことができる点が違いです。
